the concept.
based on the mental games played before and during the ultra run. facing the distance, the altitude, the darkness, the light and whatever weather conditions, runners have to accept and live with what’s to come. the meaning of sayonara is ‘farewell.’ with the possibility that we may not meet again. sayonara is the commitment to the journey ahead, not knowing what, when or where is at the end. sayonara is about the journey itself, not the destination. this is not a jog around the block.
the shoe.
built on the flow and rise components, this is a 9mm drop shoe giving a lot of comfort. we added the famous vibram zegalite 5mm grippy rubber outsole which provides critical grip and minimal weight. the upper construction is minimal with a ripstop shell, reinforced with internal straps around the midfoot. we added a protective toe bumper, but kept it light and flexible. the shoe is non-plated to keep that natural ground feel. weight is 363gr (eu 42,5 / us mens 9).
the execution.
this second edition of sayonara is designed in our ‘rolling stone’ theme, with drops of our favorite acids.

the new rise top layer delivers more heel and medial stability. we kept the ortholite x40 eco insole for best comfort, if you want to swap with your personalised insoles, you can. the upper of sayonara features a gusseted tongue to keep out debris. the tongue is slightly padded for comfort and we improved the heel lock with nice contoured padding as well. the fit is pretty normal and it is true to size.
comparing sayonara to 'get lost'.
key differences between the two are: get lost is 6mm drop, sayonara is 9mm. that means, a bit more heel lift, which results in easier ride on less technical trails. get lost is slightly firmer, sayonara is like sundays; slightly softer; to accomodate your long run. the get lost upper is more protective and a bit heavier, sayonara is smoother and lighter without an outside toe bumper.

I didn't try the shoes on beforehand, and that might have been a gamble. But they're incredibly comfortable on the trails. The upper material is very durable and breathable. Plus, they look great! I'll be getting my road shoes soon.
Unforgettable experience and I have it every day! Sometimes you buy into a brand and many times you get utterly disappointed. Now NOT with 4T2. I am the proud owner of 4 pairs of 4T2 and I just LOVE everything about this brand. Design, Fit/Comfort, Durability/Performance (I actually think I run faster in 4T2) and of course look. I purchased two pairs in the same month. I was told I would have the second pair before my race if I ordered, so I did I did not get them until many days after I never would have ordered the second pair so close to the first pair if I knew that was going to be the case. That’s a crazy amount to spend in the same month Very unhappy Too bad because shoes are great and until then so was customer service

Had my first run in these yesterday on a rainy, muddy, hilly run through woods and parks and they felt great. Nice and roomy toebox, plenty of grip to navigate the slip-slide that the pathways can become. I normally run in a lower-stacked shoe, but the difference was barely noticeable. My first pair but definitely not my last.
These shoes are an absolute joy. Perfect for a weekend forest run.
