having worked in the running shoe and apparel industry for a long time, we felt frustrated that brands are always talking about the latest and greatest technologies which are often just seasonal marketing stories to push another season of 'stuff' that they made. we wanted to truly connect with runners and work for them directly. learn from them, build better products and share running experiences. run together. 4T2 is a brand and business but we place our customer at the true centre of what we do. we get inspired by the people who recognise that 'running is ugly' and those who understand that 'gone running' is a state of mind.

4T2 stands for '42' the marathon in kilometers, it is a subtle reminder that we are originated in europe where we measure things in the metric system. but 4T2 also means 'for transition two' which is the moment in triathlon when you get off the bike and lace up to run the last part of the race, the marathon. and last but not least, 4T2 means 'for trails too' which is the best place to run and connect with our natural habitat.

4T2 was founded by aisha (be), john (uk) and jurian (nl) and has its headquarters in haarlem, netherlands. the company consists of an international team working mostly remote from places allover the globe. while most of its sales are in the usa, 4T2 has strong ties to asia, with partner companies in korea and china. the brand operates more like a collective of runners building the brand from the bottom up, like a movement.

check the size chart on each product page. it shows you our euro size which is unisex. next to it you see the corresponding asia unisex sizing as well as the us/uk mens/womens sizing. our fit is pretty true to size, so pick the same size as your most often chosen running shoe (or sneaker) size. if you are new to running, you will most likely want to go up a size to allow a bit more room for your foot because when you run, your foot can swell a bit. if you're not sure, just reach out through the chat and we'll help you out personally. sometimes it takes a while but we rather handle customers ourselves instead of having a bot run you around in circles.

if you currently run in other shoes, try to find the size in the label. if that is the size you often end up with, that is most likely the one you need from 4T2. if you're not sure, just reach out through the chat and we'll help you out personally. sometimes it takes a while but we rather handle customers ourselves instead of having a bot run you around in circles.

it's a simple story. you try our shoes. if you don't like them send them back within 30 days and we'll refund your purchase amount. the only thing we'll ask for is your honest feedback so we can improve.

4T2 was built upon some fundamental principles about design, development, production and business practices. we believe the world doesn't need another brand working in an 18 month cycle, producing too much of what people don't need. we design, develop and produce our shoes from modular components. we do not work with seasons, we produce when we need to based on our growth. we also improve our products with every production run, instead of rebuilding a 'collection' with its devastating sample processes, pre-ordering and eventual overproduction. you can resole your shoes, with spare outsoles you can order from us. we also sell other components like insoles and shoelaces so you can give your shoes a longer lifespan. and of course we try to use as much recycled materials and less harmful materials as we can. but we have to be honest; making running shoes is not a sustainable practice and those who claim so are jsut greenwashing. oh and we ship our shoes in their original shoebox (less packaging) and we try to avoid plastics in shipping as much as we can (99% sofar).

our shoes are all unisex. we do not distinguish our design for men or women, you can decide what you like and how you look. we also do not have a fit that is specifically for men or women, our last shape is very much a unisex running shoe last that we created to accommodate as many foot types as possible. if you're not sure about our fit, just shoot a message through the chat option and describe your foot type as well as the shoes (brand, model, size, width) you currently wear. we'll help you and will also be clear if we think we  cannot supply you.

our performance running tees are made from recycled polyester. for our performance items we try to us as much recycled material as possible, except when it seriously reduces the performance of the product. all of our cotton based apparel products are organic and ethically sourced and manufactured.

one more is the lightest shoe. it weighs 255 gram for an eu42.5 / us mens 9. it is a lightweight trainer with a thin grippy outsole which can also be replaced when it is worn out. so you can run them longer.

the softest shoe from 4T2 is sundays. the firmest shoe is weekdays. between the two, sundays also has a higehr stack and a 9mm drop, making them run more comfortably, especially in longer runs. weekdays has a 6mm drop and is a great everyday trainer and works well in the gym too.

you can try out our shoes and even borrow them for a couple of days to figure out which model you like most. we offer this service in our locations in atelier 4T2 in haarlem, netherlands as well as in Useful Atelier in seoul, korea.

if you need a wider version of your running shoes, it might be a challenge to try our running shoes. we do not make wider shoes yet. generally people with wider feet run well in all of our shoes, sometime you may need to pick a size up for a bit more room inside the shoe. through the chat let us know what model and size you normally wear and we'll check it out for you!

we design, develop and produce different shoes that create different running experiences. we have 2 running shoe types: road or trail. for road running we created 'one more' which is a lightweight trainer, made for faster pace training runs or track workouts; it is light and feels fast. 'weekdays' is your daily trainer, for everyday runs and also works well for gym workouts, due to its firmer, stable platform. 'sundays' is your comfortable long run shoe, many customers love it for running marathons too. for trailrunning we created 'get lost' which is a versatile shoe that can be used for more technical terrain as well as long hikes. 'sayonara' is the ultra trail shoe that gives more comfort for long/ultra trailruns and hikes.

if you want to feel light and fast and like a more natural, direct feel under the foot, go for 'one more'. if you need a stable daily trainer for running and gym workouts, take 'weekdays'. if you want comfort for your long runs, choose sundays.

if you run more technical trails and/or like to feel what's happening between your foot and the earth beneath, than pick 'get lost'. if you love comfort on your long trails, stick to sayonara.

our shoes are made to run in and many of our customers, including ourselves, are running, walking and hiking in the 4T2 shoes. you can also use them for gym workouts. the benefit from our shoes used for hiking and walking is that they are lighter than traditional hiking boots.

no (unless it is a shoe with a goretex or sympatex waterproof material applied). you can use a water repellent spray for the trailrunning shoes to protect your feet from the rain but that will not make the shoes waterproof.

the drop of our shoes is 6mm or 9mm. that means the difference in height between the heel and the forefoot. 6mm means that the heel is 6mm higher than the forefoot. 9mm means that the heel is 9mm higher than the forefoot. a lower drop means a more natural footstrike with more empahisis on midfoot landing and an active stride. it also means you are more stable on the platform which is better for people who run technical trails. a higher drop means more comfort during the landing phase and an easier toe-off; runners experience this as as a 'more comfortable ride'. a higher drop is slightly less stable on technical trails.

our shoes are all built neutral (without extra stability devices like firmer medial posts) but because of the midsole shape, they provide a stable ride for most runners. so mild over-pronators can easily run our shoes. if you have custom insoles or orthotics, you can easily use them because our standard 5mm thick ortholite insoles can be taken out. if you are a heavier person with severe or late stage over pronator and have always run in maximum support shoes, you might need to look elsewhere.

our shoes are built from modular components. the upper, midsoles and outsoles are designed in a way we can make various combinations to create different running experiences. by doing this we reduce time and waste and we improve customer satisfaction because we can take feedback into new components of the shoes. next to that we not work in seasonal fashion cycles and the traditional 18 month planning cycle of the shoe industry. we design, develop, produce and repeat. every production run carries improvements. because we work on a much shorter timeline we also create less waste and less over-production. our entire business model is created from the concept of sustainability but we don't like greenwashing; we rather work on it than talk about it. last but not least; you can resole our shoes with any of the outsoles we provide, just order them online and let a local shoe repair shop or cobbler give your shoes a second chance.

yes you can. every shoe we produce is resoleable. you can buy the soles from our website and have a local shoe repair shop have them replaced. this way you'll give your shoes another run or walk and you help reduce waste for the planet. in the future we want to offer that service ourselves too.

no, we do not make shoes with pfas.

depends on what you like. if you like a light and faster ride, take 'one more'. if you like comfort, take 'sundays'. if you want a bit of both, go for 'weekdays', it also works well in the gym.

as a fast runner you can run all our shoes but it depends what you prefer as how the shoes feel. most likely you will love 'one more' which works well if you want to run faster. if your prefer a slightly firmer ride, pick 'weekdays'. 'sundays' gives you more comfort but you can still run pretty fast in it since none of our shoes are very soft.

for a slower runner we think 'sundays' works best as it gives you more comfort because of its higher stack and higher drop. but sometimes runners prefer a firmer shoe, then you can also pick 'weekdays'.

you can pick any road running shoe but it depends on what you like. if you like a light and faster ride, take 'one more'. if you like comfort, take 'sundays'. if you want a bit of both, go for 'weekdays', it also works well in the gym.

4T2 road running shoes are slightly firmer than most of todays soft running shoes. we create them this way because we believe runners are better off with a little bit more feel under their foot. what do we mean by that? if you run on very soft shoes, your feet and lower legs get lazy and they feel less when they hit the ground. by making our shoes slightly firmer we make sure you feel when you hit the ground and your feet do their natural job; help to abzorb the shock and work with the rest of your body to get ready for the next step.
